Obstacles to Meditation and how to conquer them

  1. Finding the time: A regular practice is most effective; even 10 to 15 minutes a day. It’s okay if you miss a day or two as long as you come back.
  2. Feeling sleepy: This is common when you’re relaxed. Practice while sitting up not lying down, open a window for fresh air, and meditate in the morning.
  3. Persistent thoughts: Feeling restlessness and resistance in thoughts is normal. Journaling before meditating will help clear out thoughts that are persistent.
  4. Too many distractions: Allow sounds to come and go without resistance. You are meant to settle into your environment with all of its accompanying sounds. If it’s too much, try ear plugs or noise-cancelling headphones.
